In order to enable consumers to have a clearer understanding of the certification marks marked on the purchased products and to reduce the various certification costs borne by product manufacturers, the Korea Institute of Technology and Standards (KATS) announced on August 20, 2008 that it will The new certification system KC (Korea Certification) certification will be implemented on the 1st.

The plan has been implemented first in the Ministry of Knowledge Economy since July 2009, and is expected to be extended to all sectors by the end of 2010. The implementation plan of the KC mark is as follows: December 2008: Amend the "Basic Law of National Standards" and its enforcement orders;

July 2009: The Ministry of Knowledge Economy began to implement and adopt the national unified KC mark; January 2009 to December 2010: Amend laws related to standard certification; January 2011: Apply the KC mark to all certifications.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) of South Korea announced on August 25, 2008 that the National Standards Committee will implement a new unified national certification mark from July 2009 to December 2010, called the "KC Mark" mark.

The new mark is called KC Mark, which stands for Korea Certification. The current 13 mandatory signs will eventually be unified under this new sign.

One result of this initiative is to reduce the supplier’s expenditure on certification fees, making South Korea’s KC Mark gradually become a global brand certification.
According to the "Korea Electrical Appliances Safety Management Act", since January 1, 2009, electrical appliance safety certification is divided into two types: mandatory certification and self-discipline (voluntary) certification.

Compulsory certification means that all electronic products that belong to compulsory products must obtain KC Mark certification before they can be sold on the Korean market. Factory inspection and product sampling tests are required every year.

Self-discipline (voluntary) certification means that all electronic products belonging to voluntary products only need to be tested to obtain a certificate, without the need for factory inspection. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
