How to Choose a Fast-Charging Power Bank

Fast charging is a specification buyers compare on the shelf, but the number on the box is only half the story. The real question is whether the power bank and the phone agree on a protocol: USB Power Delivery (PD) for most modern phones and laptops, QC for many Android devices, and PPS for Samsung fast charging.

Match output to the devices you are targeting. 20W PD covers iPhone fast charging, 22.5W covers most Android flagships, 30W and above start to make sense for tablets and small laptops. A higher wattage rating does not help if the cable or the phone does not support it, so quote cables rated for the same current as the output.

Thermal behaviour separates good units from cheap ones. Ask for a discharge test at rated wattage for 30 minutes and check surface temperature; a pack that throttles quickly will disappoint buyers even if the peak number looks right. Also confirm the input rating, because a slow recharge time is a common complaint in reviews.
